Pixel Art

I have recently ventured into pixel art! The limited space for detail makes for an interesting challenge and trying to convey themes with little availability for detail is surprisingly fun to me.

This is my favourite pixel art creation – an ungentrified and slightly decaying are of a city that is trying to be uptown. I was able to get a lot of smaller details into this such as graffiti, glimpses into the apartment windows and the texture on the buildings and I’m incredibly proud of it.

I forgot to take process shots for this one, but this is titled “rose petrichor” and was my first venture into pixel art, in which I wanted to play with a monochromatic but colourful environment.

With this I wanted an obviously cold environment but with a sanctuary of sorts that looks warm and inviting. I really enjoyed making the cabin and the snowman and am really pleased with how the elements come together.

As a brief venture into sprites, I also made these little ghosts – one with patches and one without. They’re supposed to be a little bit glowy, and I think I made them very cute with what detail I could!
